W. Korey Bell, MBA

Korey Bell joined Gjerset & Lorenz, LLP in 2021. Mr. Bell focuses on providing analytical support to clients across multiple states participating in governmental reimbursement and quality programs, such as the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital program, the Managed Care Incentive Payment program, the Quality Achievement Program, and related audit activities. Mr. Bell assists providers in assessing their eligibility for government reimbursement programs and uncovers opportunities for clients to enhance their financial operations, all while ensuring that quality of care standards are upheld nationwide. He has experience with various government reimbursement initiatives across multiple states and conducts program-specific analyses on the following:

Quality Incentive Programs

  • Actively collaborates with state Medicaid agencies and contracted Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) to enhance the quality of care provided throughout each state, fostering partnerships that drive improvement.
  • Conducts in-depth analyses of patient-level data across the state to verify that quality initiatives are effectively implemented and sustained, helping to ensure that high standards of care are consistently met.
  • Delivers comprehensive training and educational meetings to clients in various states, focusing on effective data collection methods and best practices. By equipping clients with the necessary skills and knowledge, he ensures they understand the importance of accurate data management.
  • Spearheads financial modeling efforts for a range of quality programs across several states, ensuring that all financial projections are accurate and aligned with program goals.
  • Manages coordination efforts with over 80 hospitals across two states, delivering comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual payment estimates to ensure financial transparency and accuracy.

Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Programs:

  • Assesses reimbursement projections for hospitals to support fiscal budgeting and accounting processes. This involves a thorough review of anticipated reimbursements, ensuring that financial forecasts are accurate and aligned with the hospital's operational goals. By providing detailed evaluations, he helps hospitals make informed financial decisions and maintain effective budgetary management.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices, effectively managing risks associated with reimbursement processes. This involves monitoring changes in legislation and industry standards, conducting regular audits, and implementing necessary measures to mitigate potential risks.
