Gjerset & Lorenz, LLP was founded in 1998.  Headquartered in Austin, Texas, our firm serves a wide range of local, regional, and national healthcare providers, from multi-hospital systems to community care centers. 

Gjerset & Lorenz was founded by partners Jim Gjerset and Shauna Lorenz. 

Mr. Gjerset, a graduate of the Washington College of Law at American University, worked for the Texas Office of the Attorney General representing the state in provider fraud and abuse investigation and prosecuting actions for unfair insurance practices. Mr. Gjerset then joined the healthcare practice group of Haynes & Boone, LLP, building the knowledge and experience on which he helped found Gjerset & Lorenz in 1998.

Ms. Lorenz is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and began her career in the regulated industries section at Haynes and Boone LLP.  While Ms. Lorenz founded Gjerset & Lorenz primarily representing electric utility clients, over time the demands of the healthcare field required her to dedicate her time entirely to the firm’s hospital clients.  Her experience includes work in regulatory, operational, general business and litigation areas involving healthcare and utilities law.

Over the years, Gjerset & Lorenz expanded its knowledge and experience base beyond its founders by hiring a team of talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying areas of experience.  The common traits of the Gjerset & Lorenz team members are collaborating with clients and being motivated by the success of our clients’ businesses. Our team relishes the challenge of continually learning and adapting to the ever-changing healthcare field and offers proactive business solutions for novel situations.
